The Sector of Fine Art is one of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture organizations, concerned with art and culture on various levels, locally, nationally, regionally and internationally. The International Media Art Forum for Youth “IMAFY”, the most recent event on the Sector of Fine Arts’ agenda for 2008, comes to serve as an interdisciplinary platform for youth age 35 and under, who use digital medium for implementing and designing their creative ideas and projects.
Professor of Art, Greg Pond, has been invited to participate in and juror IMAFY’s current exhibition. “The Square” brings together the work of six international video collectives, including Pond’s last curatorial project, “The 60 Second Southern Film Festival.” Some videos from the 60 Second collection have been censored by the Egyptian authorities, and can be viewed at an alternative site on-line. Prof. Pond will return to Sewanee next week.
